Our daily habits are a greater determinant of excellence than one-off actions, No matter how extensive or impactful. Here I have curated five daily habits you as an entrepreneur and brand builder can implement to boost the health and well-being of your brand and by extension your business:

1) “The key is in not spending time, but in investing it”. – Stephen R. Covey

We all start out with the same 24 hours credit in our time bank daily, and business owners more than most know just how fast that credit can be spent. To ensure you are getting the best return on the investment of your time, start out with a list of most important accomplishments of the day.

The Eisenhower Matrix is especially useful here, prioritizing tasks by urgency and importance ensures that at the end of each day you have put your focus and time on those tasks that are not just important but urgent. Afterall, a stitch in time saves nine.

2) “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” — Benjamin Franklin

In business as in life you must be a lifelong learner to grow and be better, incorporating daily learning activities from books, from people and from so many different platforms without really going out of your way is easy.

A great way to incorporate learning is by bundling your activities. For example, I like to listen to messages and podcasts on my daily walks. It could become a routine like reading a chapter or two before bed every night or simply a part of your day by having conversations with your customers, mentors or employees and other people in your network. You can learn something new daily by asking questions and simply being curious.

3) “The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood its ground.”― Anodea Judith

I had a client once who had changed the team working on his business project more than twice in the pace of a few months, simply because he was pursuing what seemed at the time a better idea. You must learn to see the mighty oak in the tiny seed.

Vision is the most important asset you can have as an entrepreneur and you must daily learn to stand your ground in pursuit of that vision, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Make it an habit to stay the course.

4) “I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” — Jimmy Dean.

Focus on what you can control and invest your time and resources into that daily. Responding and never reacting to situations is a great skill to cultivate when you are building your brand. It is best to develop the necessary information and plans needed to adjust that sail before the wind changes direction as it is bound to do.

In developing strategies, make room for adverse conditions, have a plan B and B+ then do your best daily with plan A. After all, the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.

5) “No matter how skilled, a dog cannot guard two homes“- African Proverb

While there are benefits to being a jack of all trades, excellence is the quality of excelling or truly being the best at something. You must be single-minded in your pursuit of being true to the core essence of your brand. Concentrate on ensuring that you stand for something specific in your audience's mind and daily work towards earning that real estate in their mind.

Daily enhance your skills and knowledge in that area, continually associate that essence with your brand, create awareness and reinforce your competence so much so that you earn their trust and ultimately their spend.
